Since 2005 I’ve worked as a TV recruitment executive, crewing up productions and headhunting key producers and senior managers (like heads of production and development) for specific projects and different clients.
I work on a variety of genres from specialist factual to features as I have a large database, good knowledge and personal contacts so know who's good and who to call and who's available. TV freelancers keep in touch and send me their updated CVs. I don't charge them to recommend or suggest them and I am not an agent. Companies approach me with a specific brief, and the contract and terms vary.
I work for different independent production companies including Objective Productions, Impossible Pictures, Outline Productions and the BBC finding producers at all levels from APs and PDs to series producers, executive producers and senior creative officers.
My extensive database holds current CVs from researchers to executive producers. Having worked in the industry I am well connected and have good relationships and a wide network so can identify and find the right people quickly to start on a production.
When I was head of 20talent at Zig Zag Productions my role was to bring new creative talent to the company. I also recommended the promotion of individuals within the company and nurtured new entrants people at the beginning of their career like runners and researchers, giving them advice and guidance. I mentored the researcher on the Channel 4 Diversity Scheme. I set up a talent database for the company containing the CVs and references of thousands of freelancers – many of whom I had seen and interviewed.
I have a strong network of contacts with talent managers at the BBC and independent production companies. I am part of the Talent Managers Forum which includes the BBC, five, ITV and Channel 4. We share and recommend good people to each other and meet regularly to discuss issues facing the industry and recruitment.
